In the Shadow of Taranaki

5/8/20        In the Shadow of Taranaki

Mount Taranaki is in the North Island.   Parihaka started in the 1840s - 1870s.
The children of Parihaka experienced abuse, danger, fear, sadness and a whole lot more other emotions.
It's important to remember about this tragic event because no one wants Parihaka to happen again and we want to remember about how much fear these kids were in.
Also because we wouldn't want to be in the same situation the kids of Parihaka.
The Europeans expected to find people there waiting for them to fight the Europeans.
Instead they found kids playing and having fun.
Martin Luther King was protesting for people to make business for people with any skin colour and also to end segregation in public places.  Gandhi and his followers against the British because the British were trying salt from seawater.
