Question 1:  When can a mission to Mars ( or from Mars ) Happen ? Why ?  

Every 26 months

Question 2:  What are two geological features of Mars ?

Mars is very dry and Mars is also red

Question 3:  What is one possible solution from the story about oxygen on Mars ?

On Mars,  the atmosphere is 95 %  carbon dioxide.  Breathing this would mean certain death because the carbon dioxide would replace the oxygen in your red blood sells.  You would last around 2 minutes.

Question 4:  If it doesn't rain on Mars,  Where does the water come from ?

Water is found as ice in the polar ice caps,  but these ice caps are covered in a thick layer of frozen carbon dioxide.

Question 5:  How will people get food on Mars ?  What is a possible solution ? 

If settlers brought their own food,  it would need to last for 26 months until the next supply rocket arrives.  Martian crops could also be grown in special nutrient-rich water.

I like that I did it on paper because the charcoal broke less and it looks really good.  I only did it on paper because I am new to the class so I didn't have time to do another one.  

Next time I would do it on black paper because it looks better.  I would have used white inc with it.  For the tapa art I used normal white paper and red inc.  I used some charcoal on the black lines to make it look nicer. 

I started weeks later and mine looks okay.  Next time we do art I will be shading some of the red parts on my art work.  I did a lighter to darker theme on my work.

The Paper Boy

The Paperboy is a really good book by Vince Vawter.  In this book a young boy who has a stuttering problem.  He takes over his friends Rat's paper route while Rat is at a farm visiting his grand parents.  The boy struggles with his stutter so much that he is scared for Friday to come around,  collection day.  

1:  Why is this book a good book to read ?
I think it's a good book to read because it can show people they aren't alone with their stutter problem.
2: What do you think of the book and why ?
I think the book is great because it doesn't get boring at all for me but I'm not sure about other people.

These are the questions I got told to answer.

Q:  What is your first impression of the novel ? 

My first impression of the novel is probably boring but the it got a little bit more interesting towards pages 30 - 50 I think.  

Q:  How do you think this story relates to " Speaking My Truth "?

I think it relates to Speaking My Truth because the boy who is taking over the paper run for his friend,  should be telling the truth but instead is not telling mam or anyone.

Q:  What are you most looking forward to about the novel study?

I am not to sure what I am looking forward to but maybe to see what happens in " the stabbing " or something like that.  Also to see if the boy gets his knife back

Question 1: How would you describe the boy at the start of the video ?

He was just playing video games and not paying any attention to the dog or his mum.  He didn't really care about the dog either.

Question 2:  What did he think of his present ?  How do you know why ?  Why did he feel that way ?

At first he didn't like it but then started to like it.  I know because at first he was not playing with the dog then started to play with the dog.  I think he felt that way cause he was just playing video games and not caring about what his mum said or what she got him.  

Question 3:  What lesson did the boy learn by the end of the film ?

He learnt to love his present and to actually care about what his mum said to him,  also to stop ignoring his mum.

Question 4:  Why is it important to be grateful,  for what we have.

Cause in other country like Madagascar and Yemen plus a lot of other country's,  They don't have a lot of food or water.  Also you never know when your days are up.  

I think this short film is sad at first but then starts to be happy towards the end because the boy starts to like the puppy.

I did a google doc about maths,  aka doing a super market thing my class had to do.  We had to create a meal plan for one week for a mum, a dad and two kids.  We had to do breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a 200$ budget.  Here is the meal plan for the week.

In New Zealand,  we have 5 key competencies that are part of the curriculum.  I made a google slide stating the 5 key competencies in New Zealand.  Here is my slide.

I think I did pretty well, It think next time we could do countrys out of New Zealand but this time I stuck to New Zealand because it's the country we are in.
