This week we are starting a new kete. We are doing a culture kete. It's all about cultures and how they are different, we also had to put photos with the words to see what it meant. Here is my google drawing.

This week our 100-word challenge is about St Patrick's Day, The story I wrote is very interesting and not something I would usually write. Here is my story.

I was just gardening as usual and this really grumpy old lady wanted to give me a garden nome. I took it because I was scared of what she would do if I didn't take it. I put it in my backyard and strange things started to happen.  I always heard noises and it was like screeching. One night it got so bad I thought someone was in my house. I would always check but the nome would just be in the same place. I know there's not an actual person trying to break in because I have cameras. If it was the nome I wouldn't know because its too short for the camera.

For weeks 4 and 5 we had to do a 100-word challenge.  I have been away so I am doing this now.  Here is what I came up with for the 100-word story. 

100 word story: I was just zooming around the house looking for any food. I happen to find some cheese in a bedroom. I was just calmly eating the cheese and I heard foot steps of a cat. I took my cheese and went to the kitchen and I saw a cat. I thought it saw me so I ran and went into a cup.  Now the cat is trying to find me. I can hear it sniffing around and I’m getting a bit worried.  Hopefully, a human comes home soon and distracts it.  I think the cat might have found me now...

 Horror Story 

For the last week we had to be writing a horror story.  I have only just got chapter 1 because me and Shelby got very confused but we are still going to finish it by this week.  Here is our horror story.  

Chapter 1: The Beginning 

A bell chimed behind me, I slowly turned around and locked eye contact with an old man, he stared at me with his cold green eyes. I felt whispers rush around my body, and then time froze. All I could do was stand and wait. Literally I couldn’t move, but he could. He moved so slowly he looked like he was in pain, he spoke but they were only whispers that had been messed with by the wind. I started floating upwards. I looked up to see what was in my path and there was a body hanging from a rope.  I started to shake,   I didn’t know what to do so I just watched in shock. The rope started to fray.  The dead body fell into a deep well, it dragged me down with it. SPLASH. We landed in a puddle.  I was so disgusted about being with a dead body I moved away from the dead body.  Then you wouldn’t believe what I saw next……

100 Word Challenge - Week 6

 100 Word Challenge

There are these magic bubbles,  they can take you anywhere.  I am at school right now and I really want to go home.  I am going to use these magic bubbles to go home because I would rather be at home.  I am now at home and I thought using those bubbles were fun.  Later that day when school finished when I was at home,  I wanted to go hangout with my friends.  I used the magic bubble to get there.  None of my friends were there.  So I used the magic bubble and went back home to my sister.

For the past 2 weeks we have been doing drama and reading mixed.  We are doing drama with Miss Clark and reading with Miss Birch.  In reading,  we have been looking at what the moral of the story is,  the theme.  Shelby and I have been doing the theme of Tangled.  Our DLO is a google slide.  Here is our slide.

I think next time I want to do a Roald Dahl book or David Walliams book because I like their books.  I think they should do a book together.

 BOY Tales Of Childhood

Today we picked a book to read in term 4 out of 3 choices.  The choices were,  Roald Dahl Boy Tales of Childhood,  Fleur Beale Playing To Win & Rodman Philbrick Freak The Mighty.  I picked Roald Dahls book because I find then interesting and not to easy.  We have to do 2 or 3 questions off this chart.

A: Yes, This interests me. This interests me because I like anything books like david walliams. I like books what he and other authors write because they write them funny but also serious.

Q: I predict the book will be about...

A: I think this book will about the story of Roald Dahls life as a young boy or in his early 20s. I also predict this book will be about something funny, serious and possibly some mischievous work.

Q: What impression do you get from the front cover?  What can you infer about the book?

A: My impression I got from the cover is probably a weird, silly and crazy life. I really hope it is because that would make a awesome story

In reading,  for a couple weeks we have been looking at some protests.  Some of the things we have looked at is Women Rights or just protests in general.   We had to use this chart and make a 3-in-a-row bingo.  They had a question on them you would answer.  Here is what I did.

Opinions:

What is your opinion on the topic you read about ?  How do you feel about the issue ? 

My opinion on this is I think it’s really unfair about them only paying the women half of what they gave the men.  I feel really angry and kind of sad because it should always be even for everything,  especially money.  

What I learned:

What are two new pieces of information that you learned from the text?  

I learned about women rights and what happened back in the day.  I also learned about 2011 earthquakes that changed the country forever.  I am very sad that it happened but also don’t regret that it happened because it makes Christchurch into the Christchurch we love.

Interesting fact:

Explain the most interesting thing you learned from the reading and why it stood out for you. Be specific and reference the text.

The most interesting part of the reading that I really liked was the bit where I found out women mostly have equal rights right now.  It should be all equal but I hope its all equal one day.

Inclusiveness

Inclusiveness 

For a couple weeks we have been doing some Inclusiveness slides.  I have just finished mine cause I was away for some time.  In this I have written what I think Inclusive is,  what it's not etc.  Here is my slide. 

 Someone has judged me before and I used to lose it!  But no I kinda of just brush it off and say oh well it is what it is.  When I got upset about it i felt frustrated I couldn't do anything about it.  I have learned to just not care what people say about you and also to stand up to people if they and judging you or others about something,  especially if it's racist.  If I saw someone getting left out I would try and go over to them to help them and then probably hang out with them.

This is a old man who is playing chess by him self.  He wanted to play chess to her improvised.  You maybe wondering how this is possible...  well his is putting his glasses on and off and switching seats.  I've give you a rough kinda of script. 

Old man ( with glasses ) * moves a chess piece *

Old man ( no glasses ) * moves a chess piece and kicks a white piece off *

Old man ( with glasses ) * moves a white piece *

Old man ( no glasses )  * moves a black chess piece and gets a white kicked off *

                                       * After a bit *

Old man ( with glasses )  * fakes a heart attack *

Old man ( no glasses )  * stares at old man with glasses *

Old man ( with glasses )  * gets up and move the chess table around so he's now the black chess pieces, the other old man with no glasses is now the white chess piece *

Old man ( without glasses )   * gets confused and ends up losing because he only had one piece left * 

Old man ( with glasses )  * Gets happy because he won * 

Old man ( without glasses ) * gets false teeth out of pocket and gives them to the other old man *

Old man ( with glasses )  * very happy because he got false teeth *

That's kinda of what this was.  The winner of this chess game got false teeth.  The old man would have always got the teeth because it's the same person.

What are reasons Mercury lost most of its atmosphere ?
There is a very thin layer of atmosphere around the planet.  It always getting " blown away "  into space by the pressure of the sunlight and by the solar wind.

Compare how close Mercury & the Earth are to the sun.

Mercury's distance from the sun is 57.717  million km.

Earths distance away from the sun is 151.21 million km.

Compare how much mass Mercury & the Earth have.
Mercury's mass is 3.285e+23.   
Earth's mass is 5.972e+24

How does not having an atmosphere affect the temperature ?
The clouds reflect on the heat of the sun away from the planet.  The winds circulate heat from hot places to cool places.  " Greenhouse "  Gases hold in the heat of the planet.

Women in WW1

This week and a little bit of last week we had to make a DLO about the women in Word War 1.  I made a google drawing.  We had to answer and few questions and do a paragraph about the women in WW1.  This is my google drawing.

I think that the women in WW1 should have been paid the same as the men did.  They should have got paid the same because they are doing the same jobs.  I think the women should have got a choice if they work or not.  If they chose not to they should have still got paid so they can still live.  The women should always get paid the same as any men because if it's the same job then say pay,  that's how it should have worked.

100 Word Challenge

Under the stars,  the galaxy sky,  there is an alien just staring into space.  He's on a rock and his name is Rocky,  That's his home under the stars.  He lives in different places all the time but this is the most frequent one.  The galaxy is super pretty; it reminds me of the milky way chocolates.  That's probably because on the packaging it's made to look like the Milky Way.  Fun fact: Earth is a small part of the Milky Way Galaxy. This alien is 204 years old in alien years and 40 human years. He's always very lonely.

The music sounds like one of those ballet barbies that turn in a music box,  It reminds me of calming but weird music.  It sounds like music my old school would put on for the class.  This kind of music seems like ballroom dancing.  I wouldn't listen to this music but for this task I did. The video is nice cause it's got feathers and it seems to remind me of birds.  This week's challenge was to do a story between 100 and 200 words and I got 117 words.  I think these storeys are really fun and I'm going to challenge myself to do one every day of the week.

Hello there... I'm frosty,  the snowman.  I am with my cousins, Sherry and Cosy.  We live on a mountain and on this mountain its only ever got snow on it.  That means no summer,  spring or even autumn,  just winter but without the rain.  Little kids came on a school trip and they built us,  When they had left we came alive and no one has ever came back to this day.  We are the ages of 31 snowman year ( 14 human years ) ,  40 snowman years ( 21 human years ) and also 25 snowman years ( 8 human years ) Oh no .... AHHH!!!

Primary and secondary sources are almost the same but different.   This is what I have learnt from Secondary sources. 

Primary sources is the original source of information.  It could be a diary,  manuscript,  recording,  etc.  Primary sources is usually is more important the Secondary sources.

Secondary sources is the after story.  It's what happens after what you have already heard from the Primary sources.  Secondary gets the information from the primary sources,  A book,  textbook,  website, etc.

Literacy 2019

Last Learning Literacy

Our last literacy class for term 2 was on Tuesday. We did some steps and had a look at our results from the start of the school year till then. We also did that today but in my homeroom class. here are my results. 

My goal for steps is to do 100 minutes in a week ( at the least ) 

My favorite thing I did in literacy on Tuesday was silent read because I love reading The man who sat in the park and The dreaming place. Here is a picture of both of those books.

My goal for next time is to read two books in our 15 minutes silent reading time. Bye

So I did a story in writing about hyperbole and this is what turned out to look it

Once upon a time there was a dog named Milo. Milo was as fast as a ford and as strong as a mice. One day Milo was so hungry he could eat a rhino, so he went to find himself something to eat. Milo had an amazing sense of smell near him. It was so far he could almost smell it! He searched for years but couldn’t find it. Suddenly, a man as tall as the beehive walked passed him eating a chicken leg. Milo drooled so much it was like a river flowing from his mouth! The man laughed, pet Milo on the head and handed him the bone. Milo was so happy he could time travel !!!
